"Tidal Water craft a case of whiskey soaked blues rock with their debut, “Corrupted”
Tidal Water do know how to rock and roll. That itself writes a good legacy for you, however it doesn’t stop there. They are a product of their time, so you can expect much more from a band that experiments with genres. Armed with their arsenal of live instruments, each song takes you on a voyage with a shimmering of surprises. This one is called Corrupted.
The blues crunch
Crackling with the bluesy crunch of the guitar, the hook of a riff starts. Beyond this, I’d be in live music heaven, but like I said, you’re getting bang for the buck. As you settle into the groove, the vocals and guitar duel together to create a metaphorical audio bubble that swallows you whole. The bouncing, hop flavoured flow of the song is engaging, fuelled by how much they enjoy their own compositions. Like Tidal Water have mentioned in their Spotify bio, there is a duality in the core melodies arising from their dual bass lines. The result is a confident mash-up of not only genres, but moods that lead to a crisp, eclectic mix of symphonies. As far as the musicality goes, one of the densest and richest rock songs I have heard this year.
If you’re tired of me fawning over the brilliance of this song, you can wait on their singles to come as well. Tidal Water are the wave that turn into the tsunami, pray for full moon. The rich tapestry they set along with paying respect to the artists that inspire them is the cherry on top. Follow them on Instagram as well as Twitter. This is their dynamite debut sound:
