Tidal Water, helmed by Oslo vocalist, songwriter, and producer Martin Hovden, unleashes a scorching indictment of societal greed with his latest single, “Corrupted.” Hovden injects a shot of adrenaline into his thought-provoking and suave aural field.

“Corrupted” begins with chiseled guitar riffs with sparks of cymbals lighting up. Hovden adopts a cool, almost apathetic persona with his soft yet smug vocals, dripping with a sultry, cool attitude. But listen closer and you’ll hear the simmering rage beneath the surface. The drums pellet down recklessly and the guitars swirl with edgy, glitzy riffs giving “Corrupted” an effect of slow burn and anger boiling and churning in our bodies.

The lyrics paint a vivid picture of corruption’s hallmarks: backroom deals, marbled halls, and a ruthless hunger for power. The chorus throws a punch. A distorted voice barks orders like a walkie-talkie transmission from the heart of a rebellion with lines like, “Fuck y’all for your greed” and “Should we get the guillotine and make those heads drop.” The jolt of energy urges listeners to tear down the corrupt system and fight for what’s right.

Hovden’s voice gets more intense with his smug attitude turning to a snarled snare with his teeth gritted and jaw tightened. The song closes with the singer placing the responsibility squarely on our shoulders: “So the only ones that can do anything about this is you/Because the dirty politicians won’t do it.”

Their next single ‘Imperfection’ will release on 7th of June as well. Listen to the fist-pumping rock, “Corrupted” and stay tuned for Tidal Water’s upcoming album Polarity.
